A particularly memorable project for Merrell 1TRL. This was a style of shooting that sits very close to my heart: documenting real people, in real locations, doing something they’re genuinely passionate about.

For this project we travelled to New York to capture a very niche subculture, pigeon keepers in Brooklyn. Many of them care for hundreds of birds on the rooftops of their apartment buildings, maintaining small lofts high above the city.

Once I got over the height, it became an experience I won’t forget. Spending time with people so deeply committed to something so specific felt like stepping into a hidden world above the streets of New York.
